MIA masterplan approval

Malta international airport masterplan area

The Malta International Airport and AP obtained the renewal of the Outline Development Permission for the Malta International Airport Masterplan. The masterplan, originally approved in 2018, seeks to consolidate an overall strategy for the site taking into consideration the requirements of the airport’s direct and indirect operations and ancillary uses.

In 2019 AP Valletta won an international design competition for a mixed-use development within part of the Malta International Airport Masterplan area and was further engaged to undertake the design development of the project.

Called SkyParks 2, the development will include multi-purpose spaces, offices, an elegant yet compact four-star hotel, retail areas, restaurants and cafes, set within a green landscape. The design concept revolves around the creation of a sense of place whilst developing a new landmark for the site.

AP is currently working on the permitting, detailed and technical design of the project.
