Located in the village of Tarxien, Malta, a timeless renovation project is underway, breathing new life into a historic townhouse while honoring its rich heritage. A design proposal for the refurbishment and connection of two adjacent buildings along the Gzira-Sliema promenade to be turned into new offices. The proposal combines energy efficiency to quality design.

This penthouse in Sliema guards the spirits of the old dimora and its inhabitants while having been readapted to accommodate the owner's needs. A personal selection of objects and furniture from the old house and some new additions animate the soft yet distinct character of the flats.

The proposal for a pilot masterplan for the regeneration of the Hastings area in Valletta. The intention is to test and hopefully implement a strategic vision for the country which takes into account post-pandemic considerations on the organisation of urban areas.

A regeneration strategy for fragile urban environments, striving to blend old and new, and to provide new spaces for exchanges on the borders between the two, from both a socio-cultural and economic perspective. While new public spaces emerge and green areas connect them, a sensitive regeneration of the mahalla’s streets through restoration and upgrading of existing structures preserves the original spirit of the place.

As the name suggests - Filoxiny comes from the Greek word ‘philoxenia’ which literally translates as ‘friend to a stranger’ and is more generally linked to the concept of ‘generosity of spirit’ - the project revolves around the need to re-imagine spaces with generosity and unpretentiousness, putting the needs of the residents first. It’s no coincidence that we chose an image from Kaurismaki’s “A Man Without a Past” for the concept description. We wanted the proposal to be as gentle, quirky and compassionate as the film, engaging with people going through a difficult phase of their life without any prevarication.

AP Valletta completed the renovation of its historical building. AP has positioned itself as part of a creative cluster in Sappers Street Valletta. The idea of bringing together creative enterprises next to each other is to stimulate them as drivers for urban regeneration, innovation and branding. No. 4 Sappers Street is an opportunity to create a unique hub entirely dedicated to the cultivation of new ideas in Valletta. The creative cluster is designed to be fully integrated in its urban surrounding and historical context.

What follows is the story of the restoration of an 18th Century Palazzo located in the heart of Valletta that was severely damaged during World War II and that had lain in a state of disrepair for decades.

This is the story of a Palazzo in Valletta. Among its stunning ruins there are many hidden ‘treasures’, buried in dust and trash. Thanks to its new owners, the building will finally get the chance to rise from its own ashes.

The Coach House is a Grade 1 Scheduled Property located in the heart of the village of Balzan, within the Urban Conservation Area. Historically, the property is thought to have primarily served as a service building intrinsically connected to the adjacent Palazzo Bosio.

The brief aimed at the insertion of this 1930s hotel within the rehabilitation project for the area spanning between City Gate, the ex-bus terminus and Floriana ex-parade ground.

AP is working on the rehabilitation and extension of the most important museum on the island. Besides restoring and reusing the neglected and underutilised historical spaces annexed to the Cathedral, we designed an extension like a monumental reliquary to house a very precious set of tapestries.

Villa Castro is located in the south-east of the town of Naxxar, in the centre of the island of Malta. Its location on the perimeter of an Urban Conservation Area has led to the drastic modification of the original setting of the villa, recent building developments destroying irreversibly its original context.

Tools, Trades and Traditions in the historical Palazzo de Piro (Mdina) is a unique museum in Malta presenting a single private collection of circa 2,000 objects and tools related to an array of trades.

The brief posed by the client was for the renovation of a third-floor apartment within a Grade II listed Victorian building, and its transformation into a high-end four-bedroom home in London.

Restoration and re-use of historic buildings as a high quality touristic and residential development on the island of Gozo.

Built in the early 18th Century, Casa Perellos was the intimate, yet stately country residence of the Grand Master Ramon Perellos y Rocafull (1697 – 1720).

The balcony being an important architectural element in the streetscape of Valletta, it seemed ideal to reinterpret and recreate this external wooden element to contain the connection between the existing shop and its extension.

The intervention on the tower is an insertion that is independent of the existing old structure thus avoiding any scars on the historic fabric.
