AP contributing to Property in the Med conference

Earlier in September, AP Partners Simone Vella Lenicker, Jacques Borg Barthet and Associate Partner Erica Giusta, took part in to the first edition of the Property in the Med conference, discussing different aspects of the role of the architect in shaping the future of real estate in the Mediterranean region.

Erica discussed the value of heritage-driven innovation, with regards to urban regeneration projects such as Dock 1, as part of the panel 'Designing for the Future', chaired by architect Nicky Psaila Savona, while Jacques took part into a discussion about wider sustainability-related issues, chaired by businessman and AP's former chairman Reinhold Karner, titled 'Building for Centuries: Re-thinking Architecture'. During his intervention, Jacques tackled problems due to lowest-price-based procurement systems, stating that 'when you adjudicate to the cheapest bidder, you most likely get the poorest quality', and triggering a most interesting conversation about the importance of prioritising long-term investments over quick gains in order to build truly sustainable buildings.

Simone concluded the conference delivering her closing remarks in relation to "Malta Vision 2050", a strategic document launched by the Government of Malta earlier in 2025, encompassing key elements shaping the growth of the Country. AP, in collaboration with the Malta Chamber of Commerce, recently presented its feedback on aspects concerning the built environment, crucial to any discussion about real estate and further development of the islands. The full feedback document can be found here.
