We are delighted to announce that planning approval has been granted by the Planning Authority for the development of the Presidential Suites at The Phoenicia Malta.
The project aims to add a new building element, symmetrical and centrally placed over the hotel’s main portico. Drawing inspiration from the Phoenicia’s history, the new design will bring together classical and contemporary elements, utilising local materials and in consonance with the history of the building.
The Presidential Suites derive from the existing plan layouts, with the hotel’s iconic travertine clad hexagonal staircases extended upward and celebrated as key circulation features. The skylights above the reception are preserved, while the remaining space is reimagined for guest accommodation.
The result is a spirited architectural intervention that provides much-needed presidential suites for the five star Phoenicia Malta Hotel, through a low-lying extension that adds a new dimension to the original historic character of this iconic building.
