Gżira Pumping Station


At the heart of this project is a scheduled Grade 1 Neo-Gothic building, constructed around 130 years ago purposely to serve as the sewage pumping station for the region, thereby establishing itself as part of Malta’s industrial and architectural heritage. The building shall be undergoing restoration together with interventions carried out to improve the operational systems used by the WSC, so that the building will retain its original utilitarian and infrastructural use.

Limestone Intelligent Mapping and Automated Process (LIMAP)

The Limestone Intelligent Mapping and Automated Process (LIMAP) project, funded by the FUSION R&I: Research Excellence Programme, led by AP Valletta in collaboration with technical partner Neural AI, is a research project that addresses a key challenge in Malta’s heritage conservation: the manual mapping of deterioration patterns in Globigerina and Coralline Limestone. Further collaboration with the University of Malta - including the Department of Conservation and Built Heritage, the Department of Construction and Property Management and the Department of Artificial Intelligence, ensured continued theoretical grounding and extensive feedback collection.

Al-Awdah Mosque

The Al-Awdah Mosque proposal integrates sustainable landscaping and contextual materials to create an inclusive, pedestrian-friendly environment rooted in the heritage of Diriyah. Social engagement is prioritised through semi-pedestrianised roads and peripheral commercial kiosks, while vehicular access is redirected to the rear to ensure the mosque's front remains a safe, welcoming space. These elements, combined with architectural shading devices and water features, transform the site into a functional gathering point that accommodates visitors beyond prayer times.

Grand Harbour Townhouse

This intervention re-establishes the architectural integrity of a Valletta townhouse whose original character had been eroded through successive alterations. The existing structure, stripped of its spatial hierarchy and material identity, was reconceived as a contemporary residence rooted in its historic fabric.

St. John’s Co-Cathedral

AP is working on the rehabilitation and extension of the most important museum on the island. Besides restoring and reusing the neglected and underutilised historical spaces annexed to the Cathedral, we designed an extension like a monumental reliquary to house a very precious set of tapestries.
