Public consultation on the nature-based solutions case study

Held at San Ġorg Preca College Ħamrun Secondary

Susannah Farrugia presenting the project.

On Friday 1st Dec, AP presented preliminary designs for project to be undertaken at San Ġorg Preca College Ħamrun Secondary, at a public consultation meeting held at the College. The research and design behind the project, which seeks to develop a toolkit for nature-based solutions, are being funded by the HSBC Malta Foundation. AP’s engagement, through the University of Malta’s Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development, led by Professor Maria Attard, is to carry out preliminary and detailed design for the project and to oversee the implementation, which will be funded and led by Project Green.

Over the last few months AP’s team, comprising Susannah Farrugia, Edward Cuschieri and Jacques Borg Barthet, has been involved in a number of consultation activities with the other stakeholders and the school head to develop the project, which is limited to an underutilised pocket of land on the school grounds. Foremost amongst these was a placemaking exercise carried out with the school student council to better understand the school community’s requirements.

The public consultation meeting on Friday was intended to obtain feedback from the Local Council and neighbouring residents given the intention to make the project accessible to other users, outside school hours. If you are interested in knowing more about the project or if you missed the consultation but would like to send your feedback, please feel free to get in touch with us at our info@apvalletta.eu address!
