Structural trusses installed over St. John’s new tapestry chamber

We have reached a key milestone for the most important museum on the island. The roof structural trusses have now been installed over the new Tapestry Chamber to form the new roof to the St. Johns Co-Cathedral Museum extension in Valletta.

Weighing a total of circa 27 tonnes, the installed structural system comprises of a total of 18 different structural steel trusses which will house the museum extension’s new plant room at roof level.  All steel trusses have been hot dip galvanised and painted with intumescent paint coating to ensure that an adequate fire resistance is provided to all the exposed structural steel members.
