Quid tum: Alberti, Laparelli, Piano and the Happy City

AP’s Konrad Buhagiar recently gave a lecture at the University of Malta Valletta Campus, in the occasion of the seminar ‘Safeguarding Urban Centres and Historic Buildings’ organised by the Department of Conservation and Built Heritage of the University of Malta in collaboration with Birzeit University, Palestine.

During the two-day seminar, the speakers and the academics debated on how the new technologies and tools are changing the approach to the matter, reflecting on the critical issues and threats that World Heritage is now facing. “The concept of timelessness supersedes the contrast between old and new, and the traditional separation between contemporary architecture and conservation”, said Konrad during his lecture. The discussion opened the way for further collaborations between the University of Malta, AP Valletta and Birzeit University.
