Villa Castro, a project by AP in collaboration with Jens Bruenslow, has been shortlisted in the New & Old – Completed Buildings category. Making the shortlist after a record year of entries is a great achievement for AP who had won the Transport Category with Barrakka Lift in the 2013 edition of the Festival. Moreover the practice has had projects shortlisted a number of times in the last few years, including the experimental project for an Instant Domestic Enclosure in Malaysia, the new Farsons Brewhouse and Corporate Village.
Projects from 68 different countries have been shortlisted for the 2017 awards; “this year’s shortlist has a hugely diverse geographic range,” said WAF programme director Paul Finch, from the concept for an ever-expanding housing in Syria, to the renowned newly refurbished shopping center Printemps Haussmann in Paris. World-leading firms including Zaha Hadid Architects, BIG and Viñoly Architects are among the international firms on the WAF awards shortlist for 2017.
Winners will be selected and announced during the festival, which takes place at Arena Berlin, 15–17.11.2017.
The project has also been shortlisted in the Best 40 projects of the 2017 edition of the Biennal Barbara Cappochin International Prize for Architecture.
